Most students at the UO will complete a bachelor of arts or a bachelor of science degree. Almost every major is offered as a BA or BS. The BA requires the equivalent of two years of college-level language and the BS requires the equivalent of one year of college-level math or computer science. A few majors at the UO require students to complete a different type of bachelor's degree.
Three factors will influence your decision about which type of degree you want:
- Whether math or a second language is required for your major.
- Your preference for or comfort with math or computer science versus language.
- Which proficiency (math, computer science, or language) would benefit your career goals.
The chart below outlines the differences between degree types.
Degree Type | Credits Required | Area of Inquiry Courses |
|---|---|---|
180 | 4 in each category | |
180 | 3 in each category | |
225 | 3 in each category | |
