Describe your academic background and areas of interest.
Greg earned his PhD in Educational Leadership and MA in Counseling and has over 20 years’ experience working in higher education. One main area of interest is researching how generosity builds trust and helping others develop personal leadership skills. All his higher education experience has been focused on helping students find success through extra-curricular support and teaching. He considers it an honor to serve as an Academic Advisor and to help students find the resources they need to thrive in in this critical phase of personal development.
Describe your "exploring" experience as a student.
Navigating education as a first-generation student has been deeply formative to his passion and dedication to equipping students for academic, professional, and holistic success. Greg did not start college with a clear career path, but picked up key skills like critical thinking along the way. The heart of learning is exploring an curiosity, which is why being an exploring student is a great way to begin the college experience.
What do you like to do when you are not advising?
As an Oregonian, Greg has been a Portland Trail Blazer fan for as long as he can remember and enjoys talking NBA basketball with anyone who's interested. He also enjoys spending time with his wife and four kids. When there is free time, you can often find him reading, exploring national parks, road trips, camping, or at the beach.
