Undeclared Advising

Undeclared students are those who have not yet chosen a major or who have decided to no longer pursue a declared major. Those students who are undeclared are not in the minority. In addition, many students who come to college with a declared major change their minds, at least once.

Choosing a major is one of the most important decisions students will make in college; therefore, it can pose a real challenge. It is not a quick decision, but a process. With this in mind, students are encouraged to use the resource center in the OAA library, use the Career Center’s Career Information Library, and seek assistance from the counselors at the OAA and at the Career Center. OAA also offers workshops and referrals to help students choose a major. We encourage students to explore their interests with an adviser and carefully review official information that can be found in the University of Oregon Catalog, Student Handbook, and Class Schedule. To help in decision-making, students can look at a complete list of majors and minors. For more information, go to choosing and changing a major.
