How Do I Drop All of My Classes (Complete Withdrawal)?

While you may withdraw from all but your last class using DUCK WEB, you must contact (in person or over the telephone) the Office of Academic Advising to process a complete withdrawal from school. This contact will give you the opportunity to discuss your decision to withdraw and to address any questions you might have.

** PLEASE NOTE **
It is important to follow the withdrawal and refund deadlines noted on the Academic Dates & Deadlines calendar. Dates are also listed in the Class Schedule when the CRN of any course is clicked for more detailed information.  Failure to adhere to the deadlines established for withdrawing will result in tuition charges.

SRC and ARC Petitions

If students find it necessary to ask for an exception to academic requirements or procedures, two standing faculty committees meet regularly to hear and act on such requests. The functions of the two committees differ in that the Scholastic Review Committee (SRC) processes petitions that are for previous terms and the Academic Requirements Committee (ARC) processes petitions that are for current terms and for exceptions to graduation requirements.

The Scholastic Review Committee processes petitions for the following:

  • Academic Reinstatement
  • Cancellation of Disqualification
  • Cancellation of Academic Probation
  • Complete or selective withdrawal from courses after the 10th week of the term
  • Change in grading option after the 10th week of the term (when not needed for graduation)
  • Contested grade (request for change of grade when the instructor feels such a change is not warranted)

Students can obtain SRC petitions from the Office of Academic Advising, 364 Oregon Hall, where an adviser will provide assistance in completing the petition. The committee meets as needed and typically on a biweekly basis.  Petitions to withdraw, change a grading option, or contest a grade are subject to a three year time limit.  Petitions must be filed within three years following the term in question.  Exceptions may be granted only under extreme or highly unusual circumstances.  PLEASE NOTE STUDENTS ARE PETITIONING FOR EXCEPTION TO UNIVERSITY POLICY AND APPROVAL IS NOT GUARANTEED.

The Academic Requirements Committee processes petitions for the following:

  • Reduction in graduation requirements
  • Late registration
  • Adding course/s past deadline (any term)
  • Delete course/s from academic history any term (drop with no W); individual courses only; no financial implication
  • Register for more than 24 credits (any term)
  • Change in grading option (to meet 168ABCDP* or 45ABCD rules for graduation)
  • Selective withdrawal after deadline (weeks 8, 9, and 10)
  • Receive credit twice for same course

Students can obtain ARC petitions from the Office of the Registrar, 220 Oregon Hall. Contact the Office of the Registrar at 346-3243 for more information. PLEASE NOTE STUDENTS ARE PETITIONING FOR EXCEPTION TO UNIVERSITY POLICY AND APPROVAL IS NOT GUARANTEED.

Refund Review Committee: The date of complete withdrawal determines the percentage of tuition refund (if any).   If a student does not agree with the amount of tuition charged for the term after filing for complete withdrawal, he/or she may request a greater percentage of refund by completing a Tuition Refund Petition form obtained from the Office of Academic Advising, 360 Oregon Hall, (541) 346-3211.  PLEASE NOTE STUDENTS ARE PETITIONING FOR EXCEPTION TO UNIVERSITY POLICY AND APPROVAL IS NOT GUARANTEED.
